Personal Safety Awareness Workshops

SOS Global workshops

The SOS Global workshops concept is to use all products to create awareness of personal safety issues empowering people at a personal level to make constructive decisions about their health. It is a prime objective to integrate these often isolated issues and encompass them into one progressive, deliverable agenda, suitable for all sections of the community directly influencing behavioural patterns. They are all totally interactive and also statistically measured to provide valuable feed back on trend sets and success rates for our clients. All of our initiatives are suitable for quick response campaigns in areas of high incidence.

The material is gauged for 14-16yrs, 16-18yrs and 18yrs upwards and is delivered dependent on knowledge and understanding. The flexibility of the content allows access to diverse sections of the community ranging from young people in youth groups, schools, colleges and universities, including those with disabilities.

Evaluation

Each unit is evaluated through a series of questionnaires completed independently and as groups. The workshops are also interlinked allowing delivery of individual sections, revision of previous units and also measurement of knowledge retention and behavioural change. On completion statistical analysis including a CBT report is provided outlining the outcomes of the course providing a valuable insight into trend sets, knowledge and success rates. (Please note that a CBT report can only be completed if 2 or more units are completed by the same students.) This allows direct targeting of specific areas of need.

Accreditation

SOS Global is accredited to the AQA Unit Award Scheme which provides the opportunity to give students formal recognition of their success in short units of work. The Scheme promotes effective teaching and learning by ensuring that those writing and delivering units give careful consideration to learning outcomes, evidence and assessment and by setting down clear targets for students. On completion students are eligible for a certificate.

Interactive Sexual Health & Personal Safety Initiatives

Often teachers, whose expertise lies in other subject matter and who may have had long term relationships with students, find that addressing intimate sexual issues an uncomfortable and awkward pre-occupation. Conversely the target audience may also have problems speaking honestly and openly to persons well known to them and as such, confidence and quality transference of relevant information is degraded. It is recognised that teacher/student interaction must be regarded as a priority in the successful development of any person however the probability and incidence of barriers must be considered a pertinent issue.

It is the purpose of this package to address the fundamental issues of sexual health, without any such impediments and provide current information in open courses, empowering people to make healthy choices. Our SOS trainers have in depth knowledge and work experience in the social services environment and are used to addressing situations, which would often prove difficult for others, enabling them to effectively and efficiently impart accurate information in an easily understandable way, to all levels.

Normally personal safety is a matter of defined experiences from which the person can draw, assessing given situations and how to react. Uniquely these workshops are designed to identify the basic methods of staying safe, and by their adoption creating ownership and developing skills which would otherwise be difficult to attain.

This package stands alone in addressing elemental issues at root source and will directly influence decision making, creating for many an informed base from which to assess & resolve difficult situations. It also incorporates statistical evaluations on student’s knowledge and retention of information providing a valuable insight into competence levels.

The workshops proactively targets specific agendas such as:
